Investigative reporting isn’t dead

Dave Philipps of the Colorado Springs Gazette started with a simple idea: interviewing Iraq War veterans who had been convicted of murder since returning home.

What he uncovered led to weeks of intensive reporting as his interviews uncovered stories of war crimes and mental distress gone unchecked. It is a compelling, disturbing narrative.

But the massive project shows that some reporters and news organizations have not given up the fight.
